Darshan had been experiencing debilitating migraines for four years, with episodes occurring three to four times a week. The headaches were often accompanied by nausea, light sensitivity, and an inability to work. Neurological tests had ruled out structural causes, and preventive medications provided inconsistent results.
The Ayurvedic assessment at SAP Hospital pointed to a Pitta-Vata imbalance affecting the head region, aggravated by irregular sleep patterns and work-related stress. The primary therapy chosen was Nasya (nasal administration of medicated oils), one of the five Panchkarma procedures specifically indicated for conditions above the collarbone.
Treatment began with Mukha Abhyanga (facial oil massage) and Nadi Sweda (localized steam therapy) to open the channels. This was followed by a 14-day course of Pratimarsha Nasya using medicated oils prepared with Brahmi and Shankhapushpi, herbs known for their calming effect on the nervous system.
Alongside Nasya, Shirodhara (continuous pouring of warm medicated oil on the forehead) was administered on alternate days to deeply calm the nervous system and address the stress component of his condition.
By day 21, Darshan's migraine frequency had dropped to zero. He was discharged with a maintenance Nasya protocol, herbal supplements, and lifestyle guidelines including sleep hygiene practices. At his six-month follow-up, he reported only two mild headaches in the entire period, both resolved without medication.
